On My Bad Handwriting

Yeah, I wrote that. I don't have good handwriting. I think if you click it it'll get bigger...

I have like the worst handwriting ever. Everyone makes fun of it. It's insulting. But recently I realized I have a bigger problem than previously thought.

I got back my radon test results. They think my first name is "Som". And they changed my last name too, but I can't put that on the blog. It's really kind of bad.

So here is a short history of my handwriting...

Pre-K: The writing begins. I'm bad at it (like everyone), but I'm the only one who can write a lower case "n" (it's basically an upside-down u).

First Grade: I can't spell, and my writing sucks. However, if necessary I can make it pretty neat. I am in "Handwriting Group", so I leave to practice handwriting every so often. I'm also so stupid I have my own class aide. Don't know how that happened.

Second Grade: Cursive begins, and ends. I don't hold my pencil correctly.

Fifth Grade: Teacher insists I learn cursive, gives me packets to do.

Seventh Grade: Essay requires I write in cursive. I hold my pencil incorrectly. It takes me hours to do.

Eighth Grade: After my hand aches, I hold my pencil correctly during a social studies test. It sticks, but the grip moves slowly back from the pencil. I now write a couple centimeters from the tip. I also do a pointless blog post on my bad handwriting.

It's late and I kind of have to go, but here are some words of wisdom.

If you have bad handwriting you'll never need help reading anyone elses handwriting.

And...

Handwriting has very little to do with intelligence.

Actually, handwriting has quite a lot to do with intelligence. If you are smart, it shows with your handwriting - it's messy. That's my theory, at least, since everyone I know that is as smart or smarter than me has somewhat messy handwriting. The least legible handwriting I've tried to read is actually written by one of the smartest people I know! Meep.

well, I'm not so sure about that, I know pleanty of smart people who have good handwriting; not fabulous perhaps, but legible at any rate. My hand-writing is horrific, and my dad makes fun of it all the time, but I think he's being a hypocrat because his hand-writing is just a series of high and low loop-dee-loops....

.... but he's a doctor, so I guess he has an excuse.

what do you mean you had an aide in first grade? that's a flat out lie. You had the nice young Ms. Pizer and kacie o'neill sat next to you.

Get your facts straight!

Lol... ur handwriting isn't THAT bad... i TOTALLY understood all but 2 words when i looked at ur essay... it might of taken me a bit to figure out.... but i knew what it SAID.

Didn't we learn cursive in 3rd grade?

If that amish essay test (i'm assuming that is the one u had to do in cursive) took you hours.... did you not finish on time or something. That was just stupid making us write in cursive for that.

I don't think intelligence has anything to do with handwriting.

wait. do i have neat handwriting? i do not know. I must find this out.

WHAT! You challenge my title as the Lord (Lordette?) of Illegible Handwriting? I insist on a duel!

Thanks, Jeff. . .
Which means I'm stupid. . .
My handwriting isn't perfect. I'm constantly trying to perfect it. . .
But then most doctors have messy handwriting. . .
I don't know. . .
My cursive is ok. But then I'm a neat freak. . .ish. At least that's what some people say. . .
But being neat and organized is fun. . .
Leah. . .HAHAH!
I don't know you. . .but that was clever.
I would say you're awesome. . .but then I don't know you. But you might be. We'll see after a couple more comments. . .

I hate writing in cursive with an absolute passion. don't ask me why, because I'm not sure I know. It's probably because it was all we were allowd (alloud? I always get this word messed up) to write in in fifth grade (at least in our vocab notebooks, anyways), and i HATED it. Yeah, that's probably why
